Need to know more about us?
We Have Your Collectibles is owned by Deanna and Derek Dahlsad. You can find out more about us at Collectors' Quest, where we both write. (Deanna Dahlsad, Derek Dahlsad). And we run Kitschy-Kitschy-Coo too.
Feeling a bit sheepish about our categories?
We have divided our items into names that may seem a bit odd to some, so heres a quick guide to each category in our store:
BBYC: Buy Back Your Childhood Who says you cant go home again? Well, maybe you cant (especially if your mom made your old bedroom a sewing room!), but you can fill your new home with all the junk from your childhood!
Perhaps you are still working on a collection you started when you were a child?
Or perhaps your mean ol' parents wouldn't even buy the coolest toy ever for you, no matter how hard you begged. (But mom, *everybody* has one!)
Or maybe when you were little you broke your sister's favorite doll, and now you'd like to give her the ultimate surprise gift!
Who knows? It's your quest. But we can help! We specialize in BBYC, where you can reclaim all the items you lost, sold or gave away.
Breakables: Vintage & collectible glassware, pottery & china. We call them breakables because they are some of the most fragile, delicate items around (and because the category listing space didnt allow us to type Bull in a china shop!). In a real store setting, this is the area you dont want your kids to enter into, and every lady worries that her purse will knock something over as she walks through... Online, we dont need to worry of such things. Until it comes to shipping. ** (You can read more on that below)
Retro Living: A wonderful eclectic mix of antique & vintage items. From Melmac dishes to vinyl records, this category allows the person who enjoys living with & using vintage items to find neato items for their home. This area also covers vintage fashions, sewing & crafts.
Rare Reads: Rare Reads, Tasty Tomes, Voluptuous Volumes, & even Obsolete Oddities. You might call them antique history books, vintage illustrated childrens books, out of print books, first editions, or vintage paperbacks. Or you might call them used or previously owned books. Accurate terms, but since they our one of our personal passions, we wax poetically, and use our big vocabularies! What beautiful book buying awaits the bibliophile here at Kitschy-Kitschy-Coo!
Collectible Camera & Film: If it produces or projects film images, this is where youll find it. Sometimes we even have developing items & film itself!
Personal Artifacts: One of our favorite areas. This is where items have incredible personal value, and we are delighted to return them to their families. Antique photographs, diaries, school annuals, & the like. You may also wish to check out the listings in the following 2 categories as well, as these items have great cross-over appeal:
Corporate & Group Collectibles: This is vintage logo heaven! We have a huge collection of vintage printers blocks, used to create print ads & packaging, which has some of the biggest names in advertising collectibles. There are also many logos from historic organizations, military & fraternal groups as well. Found in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, these unique items contain many old logos from companies such as Allis Chalmers, Westinghouse, GE, Sears & Roebuck, Pabst Brewing Company, etc. Also, historical associations & trade organizations such as the American Legion, AFL CIO, The Beverage Bureau, the Girl Scouts & many more. There are also local advertising items including food & restaurant, banking, and some older companies involved in engraving, machining, foundry work, power companies, transportation etc. Print blocks are generally easier to display as they sit on a shelf nicely & are not as fragile as old paper items - and, lets be honest, they are more difficult to find! There were fewer blocks made than the paper the imprints ran on!
But our offerings dont end there!
Here you will also find vintage calendars, matchbooks, letterhead, business correspondence, advertising premiums, and other unique items for the discriminating collector.
Travel Adventures: Paper lovers will find brochures & postcards from travel destinations all over the globe. Transportation enthusiasts will find maps as well as special items from airline, cruise ship, train & automobile companies too. We like to think of this category as a retro family vacation, with less motion sickness & bickering in the back seat!
Modern Technology/Electronics: If its new, nearly new, or not old enough to be a real collectible, and has a cord, a power source, or works with an item with a cord or power source, its here. Examples: computers, computer accessories, video games & gaming items.
Assorted Odds & Ends: Your basic other category, with items that likely didnt fit into another category. Sometimes we have New Old Store Stock items here as well. Its worth a visit, as long as youre here. *wink*
Shipping & Care
As a buyer, you might worry about how well we package. Let us assure you that despite our sense of humor & our light attitude towards the passion of collecting, we take great care in protecting the items you purchase. We know that you view the item as a precious gem that you are adding to your collection, and we treat all orders the way we want our own gems to be treated. We hope our word is enough, but if not, please view our feedback.
(And while we are on the subject, please note that we highly recommend insurance! We do our best, but bad things happen to good collectibles, and we cannot be responsible for items once they leave our hands.)
Do You Kitschy-Kitschy-Coo?
We suspect that as a collector (one who read all the way down here yet!) you are passionate about collecting. We invite you to check out our other website, devoted to the stories behind collecting.
As you may have noticed by now, we enjoy our adventures in collecting. But did you know we also love hearing about others & their collections?
Kitschy-Kitschy-Coo is a website for collectors, but not in the dry, factual sense. Sure, it's important to know why each piece of carnival glass is valuable or rare in it's own way, but after you've got three hundred pieces and start building rooms just to hold your collection, you're interest in your collectibles changes. It's no longer about value, or rarity -- you just want them. All of them. There's no longer a distinction between the collector with closets full of Ming vases and the person who collects anything with an elephant on it. The collection begins to be for the sake of collecting. We like that.
We understand that there's stories behind why you need your collection. We understand that you can't quite put a finger on it, but we'd like you to try. I suppose you don't have to understand it completely, but it'll be fun trying. At the very least, entertain yourself with the obsessions of other collectors; you might find you and your collection not so strange as you'd think.
At Kitschy-Kitschy-Coo.com we know that every collection, every item in that collection, has a story. And at Kitschy-Kitschy-Coo every collector can share their stories.
